Hey Pals!
I mentioned I was going to talk about other things. Although I would like this to be a motivational blog, I believe it will turn more into my thoughts on a page. So, I hope you enjoy the sporadic postings and random topics of conversation.
Today I wanted to talk more about books, specifically my September/Fall TBR!

Now, this is a hefty stack! I will let you in on a little spoiler... I am NOT reading all of these books.
For those of you who don't know, TBR stands for To Be Read. This is a popular thing to do among the Booktube and BookTok communities. A lot of BookTubers have TBR games that help them figure out which books they are going to read in a given time. If you haven't seen mine, you should check it out! I made it myself!
Lately, I have been watching A LOT of BookTube. Usually, my content reflects what I have been watching at the time. I am trying to avoid doing too much of one subject since I do so many different things on my YouTube. However, that doesn't always work out. In the spirit of getting better at updating this blog along with YouTube and other life happenings, I figured I would begin by writing about my TBR.
I am hoping by sharing about the books I plan to read, I will hopefully become better at talking about books. If you have seen any of my book-related content, you will know I am not great at talking about books. But that will change!
In September I am participating in two readathons. One is Becca's Bookopolathon created by Becca from Becca and the Books and the other is Make Me Read Readathon created by Ely at Earl Grey Books. Bookopolathon runs from September 1st to September 30th. Make Me Read runs from September 17th to September 30th.
For my own TBR game (Tea Time TBR), I rolled twice. I landed on a purple prompt space and pulled the prompt "pet picks". This means Tyrion had to pick my book. I laid out three options for him and placed treats on each book; whichever treat he ate is the book on my TBR. After hovering for a while over The Song Rising by Samantha Shannon, Tyrion ate the treat off Malamander by Thomas Taylor. This book has been on my TBR before however I was in a reading slump and never got to it. It is the first book in the Eerie on Sea series. We follow Herbert Lemon as he attempts to return lost things to their owners. However, this takes a turn when the thing that is lost is a girl. For my second roll, I landed on a blue space which is a stack of cards with books I own on them. I pulled the card Night of the New Magicians. This is a Magic Tree House book that follows Jack and Annie on a crazy adventure through the magic tree house.
For Bookopolathon, I rolled twice as well. On my first roll, I rolled a ten and landed on dice roll roulette. For this prompt, each dot on the dice corresponds to 50 pages. I rolled a 9; according to the rule book I had to choose a book that was between 425-474 pages. I chose The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab. I am really excited to get to this book. I have heard nothing but good things about Victoria Schwab, although I haven't heard much about this book. From what I can tell, we follow a girl named Addie who has made a deal with something to live forever however, no one remembers her. For my second roll, I rolled a seven which placed me on the community shelf space. I was supposed to print off cards for this, however, community shelf is prompts and I just so happen to have a jar of reading prompts... so I pulled from my own jar and got "character has a weapon". For this prompt, I chose The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien. I am not going to lie... I haven't seen or read The Hobbit. I have watched LOTR plenty of times, but not The Hobbit. I do own the extended editions of all the Hobbit movies, so maybe after I read the book I will watch the movies. All I know about The Hobbit is we follow Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit, on an adventure. This is crazy to other characters in the story because hobbits are known for staying in their village and not leaving. In other words, they are homebodies.
For Make Me Read, I have posted polls on Twitter for the books I would like to read for it. By the time I get around to posting this blog, I am sure the posts will be expired. I have chosen four books for my followers to choose from. For my first poll, I have The Silver Eyes: Graphic Novel by Scott Cawthon and RWBY by Bunta Kinami. The Silver Eyes is the graphic novel version of the original book by Scott Cawthon. Scott Cawthon is the creator of Five Nights at Freddy's, an indie horror game that has since become a huge franchise. RWBY is a manga based on a Rooster Teeth show created by Monty Oum. The second poll is between the original The Silver Eyes by Scott Cawthon and The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. I have no idea what The Screwtape Letters are about. It was recommended to me and it's dedicated to J.R.R Tolkien, so that's cool. As of me typing this statement, there are zero votes on both polls. So this will be interesting.
